Yes, they are. If you have a few household items for sale, a garage sale to announce or a lost or found message we would be glad to put it in The Beachcomber for you. If your church is putting on a play or the community is having an event those are the kinds of public service announcements we want to share with everyone.
When is it due?
Ads and announcements are due the Friday before the issue goes out. Our first issue will go out on Sept. 4. So, all ads will need to be submitted by midnight Friday, Aug 29.

This is BIG News!
Due to the fabulous responses we have heard from the community about this beloved local publication, we will be nearly doubling the distribution of the Beachcomber and publishing it in a BIGGER size as of the Sept. 4 issue!
It’s no surprise, everyone knows and LOVES the Beachcomber– some for the classifieds, others for the crossword puzzles, etc. My favorite feature is the trivia, or maybe it’s hunting for those free movie tickets I never seemed to call in time for. Hands down the number one request we have had is “Give us MORE!” Many of the distribution points seem to run out of stock in just hours or days. So, starting Sept. 4th we will be increasing distribution to nearly double. The number of publications, distribution locations and the frequency they are distributed will gradually increase over the next year even more.
In order to accommodate many of the new features we will be adding, like expanded FREE Classifieds, Webkinz Corner by Maya or Featured Business, the Beachcomber will be published in a slightly larger size. This also allows us space to do some fun and creative things with advertising.
What are your favorite features? What would you like to see added to the Beachcomber?
Hello world!
We are so excited to be buying the Beachcomber, a local publication here on the Long Beach Peninsula. We are loyal readers and now proud owners. Many of your favorite features will be the same or returning: crossword puzzle, FREE classified ads, featured local business, trivia and FREE movie tickets treasure hunt (hidden at a local business). We also have some new features we will be adding gradually over the next year: website, geo caching, contests, restaurant guide and a special Holiday Coupon edition!
A bit about the new owners… The Kidd family fell in love with the Long Beach Peninsula and moved here in early 2008. Steve is the youth pastor at Ocean Park United Methodist Church. Kathy works p/t as a web designer at Beachdog.com. Jessica (18) works at the Ocean Park United Methodist Retreat and Camp. Michael (16) has a Summer job at Cottage Bakery. Alex (14) has a Summer job at the camp with Jessica and does odd jobs and yard work. Maya (9) can occasionally be seen at her lemon aid stand in front of our house in Surfside. So, chances are you already know us!
We will be posting here regularly and the look of the site will be much improved. Please, stay tuned as we get our new website up and running!
